OUR STORY
Built by American hands. Backed by ours.
One storefront where the business behind every product is named, checked, and told plainly, including where it falls short of fully American-made.
WHY WE STARTED
Finding American-made shouldn't be detective work
It started with a label — “designed in the USA” doing a lot of heavy lifting for products made somewhere else. The family workshops and small-batch makers still building here were getting drowned out by brands borrowing the flag.
So we built the place we couldn't find: one storefront where American makers are checked, named, and put front and centre.
Today the store carries goods from around 250 American vendors across nine departments.
OUR SOURCING STANDARD
Three tiers, stated plainly
“American-made” covers a lot of ground, and pretending otherwise would be the same trick we started out objecting to. Every product here sits in one of three tiers, and the tier is shown on the product page.
Tier one
Made in the USA
All or virtually all of it is made here, materials, components and labour. Nothing meaningful comes from outside the United States.
On the product page: Made in the USA
Tier two
Made here, some imported materials
Manufactured in a U.S. workshop, but some raw materials or components are sourced abroad because they aren’t made here any more. The making is American; not every input is.
On the product page: Made in the USA with imported materials
Tier three
Assembled or finished here
Parts are produced elsewhere, then assembled, finished or filled in the United States by American workers. This is the furthest from fully American-made, and it’s labelled that way.
On the product page: Assembled in the USA
HOW A VENDOR GETS LISTED
Checked before the first product goes live
Step 1
They tell us where it's made
Every vendor states where their products are manufactured, who does the work, and where the materials come from, before anything is listed.
Step 2
We check it
We ask for proof rather than assurances: supplier lists, manufacturing addresses, photographs from the floor. What can’t be substantiated doesn’t go live.
Step 3
A tier is assigned
The product goes into one of the three tiers above, and that tier appears on its page rather than in the small print.
Step 4
It stays under review
If a vendor’s sourcing changes, their tier changes with it. Spot something that looks wrong and we’ll re-check it.
