¾ cup vegetable shortening OR coconut oil
½ cup water
1 cup brown sugar OR brown sugar alternative
¼ cup honey OR agave nectar for graham crackers (use molasses instead for gingersnaps)
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice (for gingerbread only)
Beat shortening with brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add honey, agave, or molasses depending on your recipe variation.
Slowly stir in the entire mix and pumpkin pie spice if making gingerbread, adding water as needed until dough forms a ball.
If dough feels dry, gradually add a little more water.
