American-Made Black & Green Tea
Tea has a storied history in the United States, from the Boston Tea Party to the front porches of the South where sweet tea is a way of life. While the world often looks to the East for tea culture, the American tea renaissance is in full swing. Welcome to our American-Made Black & Green Tea collection, where we celebrate the blenders, growers, and artisans who are redefining the perfect cup.
Our collection distinguishes itself through freshness and innovation. While many mass-market teas sit in shipping containers for months, losing their delicate oils and antioxidants, our partners blend and package their teas right here in the United States. We also feature the rare and coveted "American Grown" tea from the historic gardens of South Carolina and the volcanic soils of Hawaii. Whether you prefer a bold, malty breakfast brew or a delicate, grassy green tea, these selections deliver superior flavor and support domestic agriculture.
Classic Black Tea Blends
Black tea is the backbone of American tea drinking. Fully oxidized for a robust flavor and rich amber color, it is the perfect morning pick-me-up.
-
American Grown: Taste the only tea grown commercially on the US mainland. Harvested in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, American Classic tea is smooth, never bitter, and steeped in history.
-
Breakfast Blends: Wake up to bold blends designed to stand up to milk and sugar. Our artisan roasters combine premium leaves to create English and Irish Breakfast styles that are packed in the USA for maximum freshness.
-
Southern Iced Tea: The secret to the perfect pitcher of sweet tea is the blend. We stock large-format pouches designed specifically for cold brewing or sun tea, ensuring a crystal-clear liquor that doesn't cloud when chilled.
Green Tea & Wellness Blends
Lighter, fresher, and packed with antioxidants, green tea is processed to prevent oxidation, retaining the leaf's natural green color and vegetal notes.
-
Mint & Fruit Fusions: American blenders excel at creativity. Experience green tea bases mixed with Washington peppermint, Florida citrus, or wild berries for a refreshing twist on the traditional cup.
-
Jasmine & Floral: Enjoy the aromatic bliss of green tea scented with jasmine blossoms. Our partners ensure these delicate scents are balanced, not overpowering.
-
Matcha & Powdered Tea: For a modern energy boost, explore ceremonial grade matcha and green tea powders packaged in US facilities, perfect for lattes and smoothies.
Herbal & Decaf Infusions
For the evening wind-down or caffeine-sensitive drinkers, our herbal selection utilizes American botanicals to soothe the soul.
-
Peppermint & Chamomile: Sourced from farms in the Pacific Northwest, our peppermint tea is intensely cooling and crisp, while domestic chamomile offers a sweet, apple-like floral note.
-
Fruit Tisanes: Caffeine-free blends made entirely of dried American fruits like cranberries, apples, and cherries. These brew up a vibrant red and taste like warm fruit juice.
Loose Leaf vs. Sachets
We cater to every brewing ritual.
-
Loose Leaf: The gold standard for flavor. Whole leaves expand fully in water, releasing complex notes that fannings (dust) cannot replicate.
-
Pyramid Sachets: The convenience of a bag with the quality of loose leaf. Our biodegradable pyramid bags allow the water to circulate freely around the leaves for a premium brew.
Buying Considerations: The American Tea Landscape
Navigating the tea aisle can be confusing. Here is what makes our collection unique and what to look for:
1. "Blended in USA" vs. "Grown in USA" Transparency is key. The tea plant (Camellia sinensis) requires a specific tropical climate.
-
Grown in USA: Extremely rare and premium. Primarily found in Charleston, SC, and Hawaii. These teas offer a unique terroir you cannot find anywhere else.
-
Blended in USA: The raw leaves are imported, but the artistry—the flavoring, mixing with US-grown fruits/herbs, and packaging—happens here. This ensures US quality control and supports American manufacturing jobs.
2. Oxidation Levels
-
Black Tea: 100% Oxidized. Dark, robust, higher caffeine.
-
Oolong: Semi-Oxidized. Complex, floral to woody.
-
Green Tea: Unoxidized. Grassy, vegetal, lower caffeine.
-
White Tea: Minimally processed. Delicate, sweet, lowest caffeine.
3. Water Temperature To get the best flavor from your premium tea, watch the heat.
-
Black/Herbal: Boiling water (212°F).
-
Green/White: Steaming water (175°F - 185°F). Boiling water will scorch green tea, making it bitter.
4. Storage Tea is shelf-stable but sensitive to light, air, and moisture. Our partners use high-quality tins and resealable foil pouches to protect the leaves. Keep your tea in a cool, dark pantry to maintain peak freshness for up to 2 years.
