American-Made Military & Service Flags
Service to one’s country and community is the highest form of patriotism. At BuyAmerican.com, we believe that the banners honoring our brave men and women should be crafted with the same dedication and integrity as the service members they represent. Welcome to our American-Made Military & Service Flags collection, the definitive source for official Armed Forces and First Responder flags that are grown, woven, dyed, and sewn entirely within the United States.
It is a matter of principle: a flag honoring a US Veteran should never be manufactured overseas. We partner with historic American flag makers who carry the necessary licenses to reproduce official military heraldry with precision and respect. From the scarlet and gold of the Marine Corps to the solemn black and white of the POW/MIA banner, our collection ensures that every tribute you display is authentic, durable, and FMAA certified. Whether you are a veteran, a family member, or a community supporter, fly these flags knowing they support American jobs and honor American heroes.
Official U.S. Armed Forces Flags
Represent every branch of the military with flags manufactured to official government specifications. Our collection features vibrant, acid-dyed nylon and heavy-duty polyester options for every service branch.
-
Army, Navy & Air Force: Display the seals of our land, sea, and air defenders with crisp, intricate detailing. Our flags feature vivid colors that resist fading, ensuring the emblems remain distinct even after months in the sun.
-
Marine Corps (USMC): From the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor to the "Semper Fidelis" motto, our USMC flags are treated with the utmost respect for detail, available in both outdoor and ceremonial indoor styles.
-
Coast Guard & Space Force: We proudly stock the flags of the USCG and the newest branch, the USSF, ensuring every guardian is recognized.
-
Merchant Marine: Honor the mariners who support our nation's commerce and defense with high-quality official flags.
POW/MIA & Commemorative Banners
"You Are Not Forgotten." The POW/MIA flag is the only flag other than the Star-Spangled Banner that has flown over the White House.
-
Double-Sided Options: Because the message is vital, we offer double-sided POW/MIA flags that read correctly from both sides, ensuring the silhouette and text are always visible.
-
Honor and Remember: Beyond the standard military branches, we carry flags that honor Gold Star families, wounded veterans, and specific conflicts, allowing you to personalize your tribute.
First Responder & Thin Line Flags
Support the heroes in your local community. Our "Thin Line" series celebrates the police, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel who hold the line between order and chaos.
-
Thin Blue Line: A stark black and white American flag with a single blue stripe, honoring Law Enforcement Officers.
-
Thin Red Line: The symbol of the Firefighter, representing the courage found in the face of fire.
-
Thin Green/White/Gold Lines: We also offer flags representing Military, EMS, and Dispatchers, ensuring every public servant is recognized.
Indoor Ceremonial & Parade Sets
For VFW halls, ROTC units, churches, and executive offices, outdoor flags simply won't do.
-
Fringe & Tassels: Our indoor military flags are finished with a lined pole hem and luxurious gold rayon fringe.
-
Parade Hardware: Complete the presentation with oak poles, gold stands, and branch-specific toppers (such as the Army Spear or the Navy Battle Axe).
Buying Considerations: Honoring with Accuracy
When purchasing a military or service flag, accuracy and durability are paramount. Here is what to look for to ensure your display is respectful and long-lasting:
1. Single-Reverse vs. Double-Sided
-
Single-Reverse: This is the industry standard for outdoor flags. The design is printed on one side and bleeds through to the other. This means the text (e.g., "United States Navy") will read backwards on the reverse side. This keeps the flag light enough to fly in a breeze.
-
Double-Sided: Two flags sewn together with a liner in the middle. The text reads correctly on both sides. These are heavy and require a strong wind to unfurl. They are often preferred for POW/MIA flags or indoor displays where the flag hangs statically.
2. Official Licensing Military seals are protected intellectual property. Cheap imported flags often use distorted or incorrect versions of the seals to avoid copyright laws. Our American-made flags are Officially Licensed, meaning the colors, proportions, and heraldry are 100% accurate to the Institute of Heraldry specifications.
3. Material Choice
-
Nylon: The best choice for most homeowners. It has a brilliant luster that makes the intricate military seals pop. It flies easily and dries quickly.
-
Polyester: Recommended for VFW posts or commercial poles where the flag flies 24/7. It is a heavier, matte fabric that withstands high winds and resists tatters longer than nylon.
4. Flag Etiquette
-
Order of Precedence: If flying multiple flags on a single pole or in a row, the US flag must always be at the top or to the observer's left. The order of military flags follows the founding date of the service: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard.
-
POW/MIA: On a single pole, this flag flies immediately beneath the US flag, above any state or military branch flag.
