Details

Maverick Chocolate was founded in 2013 by Paul and Marlene Picton in Cincinnati, Ohio, after their home chocolate-making experiments grew into a family business. Their first factory and shop opened at Findlay Market in 2014, and their dedicated chocolate factory opened in Covington, Kentucky, in 2025. The family’s work centers on making chocolate from cacao beans, building relationships with growers, and paying a premium for carefully sourced ingredients. Paul’s background in aviation also inspired the historic flying-machine illustrations on the wrappers.

Café Mocha Milk Chocolate Bar

Café Mocha pairs milk chocolate with coffee in a collaboration with Cincinnati’s Deeper Roots Coffee. Whole milk powder and vanilla beans round out the cacao-and-coffee recipe. The supplier lists one 65 g bar. Coffee is an ingredient within the chocolate, and milk is present in the recipe. This is a solid chocolate bar for eating, rather than a powdered mocha beverage.

The finished chocolate is made at Maverick’s factory in Covington, Kentucky, United States. The company’s bean-to-bar process includes roasting, refining, tempering, and molding. Manufacturing location and agricultural origin are separate facts: the recipe uses globally sourced cacao ingredients, and this listing does not claim that every ingredient was grown in the United States.

Flavor, Uses & Buying Guide

Compare this recipe with a dark coffee chocolate if you want to explore how milk changes the texture around coffee and cocoa. Begin with a small portion on its own, then decide whether you prefer it beside a plain drink or after a meal. The 65 g bar can be divided into smaller tasting portions instead of being treated as one serving.

When comparing chocolates, consider the cacao percentage, the named ingredients, texture, and package size together. A cacao percentage alone does not describe allergens or provide a nutrition panel. For a gift, check whether the recipient prefers milk-containing chocolate, a plain origin bar, coffee, spices, or a nut-containing recipe before choosing a flavor.

Contains milk. The supplier warns that shared equipment may leave traces of peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, and milk. The supplier identifies its products as soy-free. For help distinguishing ingredient allergens from shared-equipment advisory statements, see the FDA’s guide to reading food allergy labels. Read the package received each time you buy.

Preparation & Storage

Ready to eat. Break off a small piece and let it soften briefly on your palate before moving to the next sample. For a shared tasting, set out small portions at a comfortable room temperature, keep the remaining chocolate wrapped, and use separate utensils when the selections have different ingredient allergens.

Keep the chocolate wrapped in a cool, dry place, away from direct sun, moisture, strong odors, and hot vehicles. Return uneaten portions to protective packaging after a tasting. Use the printed best-by date and storage instructions on the package received. Keep the wrapper available so ingredients and allergen information remain accessible when sharing the bar.
