Details

Ohio Flame was founded by Matt Skillman in 2009 and is based in Columbiana, Ohio. The business began in his garage after a short-lived backyard fire pit inspired him to build a sturdier steel replacement. Drawing on his background in art and the steel industry, Skillman made American manufacturing, durable construction, and direct customer service central to the company. The business also honors the help of his uncle, a U.S. Army veteran, through its commitment to American-made products and military support.

Hand-Forged Fire Poker in Steel or Stainless Steel

This fire poker is hand-forged by an Ohio blacksmith and uses a one-piece design for tending a wood fire. Choose black-finished American steel in a 34- or 46-inch length, or the 34-inch American-stainless-steel version. The stainless option has a different thickness and finish from the painted steel versions; select the complete length and material combination rather than length alone.

This listing is for the selected individual fire tool. A fire pit, logs and other accessories shown in use photographs are separate items. Plan where the tool will be stored and handled around the fire area, and choose a tool you can control comfortably with its full working load.

Features

A Substantial Tool for the Fire Area

  • One-piece, hand-forged construction by an Ohio blacksmith.
  • 34- or 46-inch black-painted steel options use 1/2-inch-thick American steel.
  • 34-inch stainless option uses 3/8-inch-thick American stainless steel.
  • Black high-heat-resistant paint or natural, rust-resistant stainless finish, as selected.
  • Manufacturer-stated five-year tool warranty.

The manufacturer cautions that these heavy-duty campfire tools weigh about 10 pounds each and require the user to account for additional material being lifted or moved. A longer handle changes reach but does not remove the need to keep a safe position around the fire. Review the selected configuration and handling demands before ordering.

Compare outdoor tools for your setup, or browse fire pits and fire bowls when matching this item to a fire area. Check the exact specifications of each selected product before combining accessories.

Specifications

Tool Configuration

Specifications for the selected product options
SKU Length (in) Material Thickness (in) Finish
OF34P 34 American steel 1/2 Black high-heat-resistant paint
OF34P-SS 34 American stainless steel 3/8 Natural stainless steel
OF46P 46 American steel 1/2 Black high-heat-resistant paint

Only the combinations in the table are offered here. A 46-inch stainless option is not included. The manufacturer gives an approximate tool weight of about 10 pounds, which is a general handling caution rather than a separate precision weight for each material and length.

Materials

American-Made Steel and the Selected Finish

The black-finished options use American steel with high-heat-resistant paint. The 34-inch stainless version uses American stainless steel with its natural finish and is described by the manufacturer as rust resistant. These are distinct material choices, so uncoated carbon-steel patina language is not applied to the stainless option. Neither finish makes a heated tool safe to touch.

Care

Handling, Storage and Warranty

Use appropriate heat-resistant gloves around fire-pit accessories, keep clothing and combustible materials clear, and never leave the tool where children or pets can reach hot steel. Do not remove ash or coals until they are completely extinguished and cold. Allow the tool and any material on it to cool before moving it into storage. Inspect it before use and follow the fire pit’s own placement and operating instructions.

Read the U.S. Fire Administration’s outdoor fire safety guidance when planning a fire-pit area. Follow the product instructions and any stricter local clearance requirements.

The tool product page states a five-year manufacturer warranty. Detailed claim conditions are not published on that product page, so retain proof of purchase and obtain the applicable terms for a claim. This tool warranty is separate from the registered steel-bowl lifetime warranty and does not extend that bowl coverage to this accessory.

Shipping & returns

Shipping and Returns for This Fire Tool

Delivery destinations, shipping charges, and the applicable return terms for this selection require confirmation before ordering. The manufacturer’s published shipping pages give different geographic coverage, so a nationwide free-delivery promise cannot be confirmed for this listing.

The supplier’s general shipping policy includes all products, but its separate Free Shipping page has narrower geographic coverage and is written for fire pits and artisan bowls. This tool page does not resolve the difference. A fixed dispatch lead time, carrier or transit time is not verified for this poker; confirm coverage, charge and timing for the selected tool before ordering.

Inspect this product and its packaging on arrival. Report shipping damage or a suspected defect immediately through the support channel for your order, and retain photographs of the item and packaging. The manufacturer provides a replacement or original-payment refund when a damage or defect claim is accepted. Its refund policy excludes buyer’s remorse. A separate policy page describes possible approval for a new, unused, resellable return, with original packaging, paperwork and parts, customer-paid return shipping, and a deduction for restocking. Such approval is discretionary; obtain the applicable terms and authorization before sending anything back.
