5-Gallon Stoneware Preserving Crock
Details
Ohio Stoneware was founded in 2005 by Ross and Tiffany Pattison in Zanesville, Ohio. When local pottery businesses were closing, the couple purchased manufacturing equipment and a production building to help carry the area’s pottery tradition forward. Their family-owned company values practical American manufacturing, skilled pottery work, and pieces intended to stay useful for generations. It later added Buckeye Stoneware and Hartstone Pottery assets, continuing a regional craft through everyday crocks, kitchenware, and decorative pottery.
5-Gallon Stoneware Preserving Crock
Prepare a batch of traditional vegetable ferments with this 5-gallon stoneware crock. This listing supplies the crock body only; a lid and weight set are separate items. Its open-top traditional shape can also serve as kitchen storage or a pottery display when it is not being used for fermentation. Plan a recipe around the usable working space, leaving the headroom required by the recipe rather than filling the crock to its rim.

Care
Care and handling
Allow stoneware to cool before cleaning, wash with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly. Follow the product’s supplied instructions for dishwasher and microwave use. Prevent thermal shock: never move a cold piece directly into a hot oven or place hot pottery on a cold or wet surface. Keep stoneware away from direct flame, stovetops, grills, and broilers. For conventional-oven use where the product is approved, the maker’s general limit is 450°F. Handle heated pieces with oven mitts and protect tables with a trivet.
Stoneware is formed, finished and fired through a ceramic process, so individual pieces can differ slightly in color, texture and shape. Use any listed measurements as approximate, and confirm the fit of replacement parts against the piece you already own. Styled photographs can include other sizes, food or accessories that are not part of this listing.
