Charles River Woodworks was founded in 2018 by Michael Langone in Waltham, Massachusetts, beside the river that inspired its name. The workshop moved to Whitinsville, Massachusetts, in late 2025. Langone describes making as a lifelong pursuit and sees creativity and play as valuable at every age. His business brings that outlook into the home through handcrafted game tables, display furniture and other wood designs.
Give a familiar two-player game a permanent place in your home with this 25 x 25 inch backgammon coffee table. The built-in playing board sits beneath a removable tempered glass top. Lift or slide the cover away for a match, then replace it when you need a surface for ordinary coffee-table use.
The included set supplies 15 chips for each side, dice, a drawstring bag and a storage compartment for the small game components. The combination keeps the board and playing pieces together, making it easier to start another round without finding a separate game box. Its square tabletop gives the design a clear furniture footprint in a living room or dedicated game area.
Height options range from 14 to 30 inches, allowing you to compare the table with your existing seating before ordering. Measure the room around the table as well as the space needed for comfortable play and handling the separate glass panel. Browse our American-made board games for other game-night choices, or explore home and decor for furnishings and finishing touches.
Custom engraving is offered as a listed option. Confirm the wording and ordering instructions with BuyAmerican before selecting personalization; the exact requested text needs to accompany a custom order.
The table has a rustic stained, clear-coated pine frame, a removable tempered glass cover and four steel hairpin legs. Its contrasting backgammon pattern is visible through the glass.
For routine upkeep, gently remove visible dust from the wood with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and sudden changes in temperature or humidity. Lift the table carefully when repositioning it, supporting the main frame rather than pulling on the legs or glass. Remove loose game or display items before a move.
The legs attach through pre-drilled holes using the included hardware and a Phillips screwdriver. Follow the supplied assembly instructions and place the table on a level surface before use. For general handling and placement principles, see North Carolina Historic Sites furniture-care guidance. This is general conservation advice; follow any product-specific instructions supplied with your order.
