Add a touch of Mediterranean charm and therapeutic fragrance to your garden with Spike Lavender seeds. Also known as Portuguese Lavender, this heirloom variety is famous for its long, elegant flower spikes and a more intense, camphoraceous aroma than traditional English lavender. Growing to a stately 2-3 feet tall, it is a favorite for those seeking to produce their own essential oils, natural insect repellents, or dried herbal bundles. Its vibrant purple blooms and silvery-green foliage make it a stunning, drought-tolerant addition to any sunny border or herb garden.

• Stratification (Required): For best results, place seeds in a moist paper towel in a sealed bag and refrigerate for 30 days before sowing to break dormancy.
• Sowing: After stratification, sprinkle the tiny seeds on top of a well-draining seed starting mix.
• Depth: Barely cover with soil; the seeds need a bit of light to germinate.
• Germination: Keep soil moist but not soggy. Provide plenty of bright, indirect light.
• Transplanting: Move outdoors after the last frost, spacing 1-2 feet apart.
• Light Requirement: Full Sun.
• Care: Lavender thrives in well-draining soil. Amend heavy clay with sand or compost. Once established, plants are drought-tolerant and require only occasional watering.

Keep unused seeds dry and cool in a clearly labeled, closed container. Protect the packet from humidity and temperature swings, and retain the variety name and sowing notes for your next planting. Use the species-specific directions below when deciding whether to start indoors, sow directly, soak seeds, or provide a cold period.
